LANGUAGE ARTS

Ka'ala Elementary School adopted the National Geographic Panorama reading curriculum in grades 3-5 during the School Year 2019-2020. The reading curriculum uses a multi-disciplinary approach where English Language Arts is taught through Science. In analyzing the reading program, the National Geographic Panorama curriculum provides students with rich non-fiction text and will help address the gaps in vocabulary and background knowledge. In Kindergarten to second grade, Ka'ala Elementary School uses the Wonders ELA Reading curriculum as it is found to be very effective in developing students' foundational skills in reading.
